Nakacinda says the truth regarding the leaked audio in which some Socialist Party officials were allegedly plotting something sinister will soon be unearthed.

Meanwhile, Nakacinda says Tonse Alliance is intact, and it shall remain so.

Speaking shortly after concluding their Extraordinary PF Central Committee meeting, Saturday, Nakacinda highlighted some of the challenges which the alliance was facing.

“One of the challenges we have seen is that the regulating documents that govern the Tonse Alliance which has remained a working document will require that we have legal minds assembled to refine these documents so that we govern ourselves moving forward. We are aware of the fact that there has been speculation, accusations, some of which have been petty, and to our response, we would rather focus on the bigger picture and issues that will help us make progress. We will look at the structure agreement of the Tonse. We will look at everything, from the spirit of reconciliation as espoused by our leader, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, but more importantly, even those who may have responded to issues emotionally in a manner that could have somewhat threatened the unity and peace of the Tonse Alliance,” he said.

“We can only assure them that as the anchor political party, our approach will not be from a place of vengefulness or indeed getting into war. We are going to approach these matters from a place of inviting all of us back to rail to focus on what the Zambian people expect of us. So, there is no need for anybody to feel that the anchor political party is sharpening itself against them. We are actually our ability to advance love, our ability to reconcile, and rise above petty issues and focus on the bigger mandate the Zambian people have given to us”.

And Nakacinda said the truth would be unveiled regarding the leaked audio.

“The appeal, which was already communicated by our party president to all members of the PF, to all levels members of the central committee, MPs and provincial leaders and council provincial Chairpersons, councillors up to the supporters to the grassroots. The weight of responsibility over your shoulder to rescue the Zambian people from the yoke of dictatorship rises heavier than emotional outbursts that sometimes manifest, not because we hate each other but sometimes the difficulties we are faced with under the UPND can lead people to say wrong things and do wrong things. We always have to sympathise with one another and cool each other. Those challenges are there for all of us to deal with, and we shouldn’t allow frustration to start getting us to go against each other. We think that the UPND must not be allowed beyond 2026,” he said.

“I want to say to our members in PF, people in every organisation, they are different characters. There’s an audio that was released where two individuals were heard to be talking around some scheme and so on. I can only assure you that PF, as the anchor political party in Tonse and as well as the Tonse in totality, we are well able as a leadership to deal with every scheme of either individuals or other persons that may be planning in that regard. There is no need for us to start creating a storm. It is very unfortunate that our acting president and vice president of the PF was brought into unnecessary accusations. Some of the issues that were being tackled around some of the pictures that were used for that manipulation, I can assure you the truth will definitely come out. You will see the wisdom of such benefits as we answer the needs of the Zambian people”.

Meanwhile, Nakacinda said the alliance was intact.

“We re-echoed today as PF that Tonse Alliance is intact, and it shall remain so. Our contribution and participation in the alliance will always carry the spirit of our leader, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, which was expressed in October 2023 when he decided to come back into active politics. He pronounced that he was not coming back to politics for selfish reasons but he was coming back to politics to answer to the challenges that the Zambian people are going through at the hands of our colleagues that have failed to govern. Our democracy is deteriorating, and all indicators that would lead to better the lives of our people have gone in the wrong direction,” he said.

“The first call was to have all political players or political parties in the opposition respond to the desperate call by the Zambian people that they need rescue and therefore, we need to come together. This is the reason why the Tonse Alliance was birthed”.

He further said going forward, the PF would take responsibility by responding to all challenges, including those that would manifest in the future.

“A few days ago there was a clear manifestation of some teething issues that brought us to the point of having a meeting to respond to be able to find ways that we can strengthen the alliance and guarantee that the hopes of the Zambian people are not undermined or sabotaged. In this case, the PF has resolved that we are going to take responsibility to make sure, as an anchor political party, we respond to all challenges, not the only the ones we had and even those that will manifest in the future. In the interest of making sure we remain united and growing as a movement that will guarantee that victory on behalf of the Zambian people in 2026,” said Nakacinda
