Energy Permanent Secretary PETER MUMBA says the reduction in fuel prices demonstrates that the TAZAMA Pipeline Open Access Policy is working.
Mr. MUMBA says it is gratifying that the Open Access Policy, which came into force on April 1st, 2025, is already having an impact on fuel prices.
He says Government is doing everything possible to ease the heavy burden on citizens caused by high fuel prices.
The TAZAMA Open Access Policy is an initiative that allows registered Oil Marketing Companies -OMCs- to utilize the TAZAMA pipeline for transporting imported Low Sulphur Gas Oil from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to Ndola, Zambia.
The policy aims to promote competition, improve efficiency, and ensure fair and equitable access to the pipeline infrastructure, ultimately contributing to a more competitive and stable fuel supply for the Zambian market.
